Programme Description

This qualification recognises individuals with the skills to perform tasks in Telecommunication and Wireless Technology. It covers understanding of mobile and terrestrial technologies, satellite communication, digital concepts, data communication principles, TCP/IP fundamentals, and both wired and wireless networks. Learners will also gain hands-on skills in installing telecom devices and cables, working with customer premises equipment, and applying safety procedures. The programme encourages innovation and problem-solving in telecom environments. 

 

Qualification Requirements

This qualification will be awarded to students credited with a minimum of 102 credits, and who have met the requirements of all compulsory sections.

 Who should apply?

    • Ordinary Level certificate or equivalent, or
    • National Vocational Certificate in ICT—Foundation (Level 2)
    • Basic computer, English communication, and numeracy skills 
    • Individuals already employed in the field of ICT but without formal qualifications 

Programme Description

This qualification certifies individuals with the skills to carry out advanced Telecommunication and Wireless Technology tasks. Learners will gain in-depth knowledge of signal applications, broadband and wireless network technologies, antenna systems, VSWR, and radio frequency bands. It includes practical skills in underground cable installation, copper and fibre optic splicing, network monitoring, and maintaining telecom cables. Learners will also understand fault tolerance, disaster recovery, and develop entrepreneurial skills by creating and planning business opportunities. 

 

Qualification Requirements

This qualification will be awarded to students credited with a minimum of 138 credits, and who have met the requirements of the programme. 

 

Who should apply?

  • School leavers who have obtained a minimum of 25 points in the NSSCO examinations or the equivalent thereof and who wish to pursue a career in Information Technology
  • Students who have completed a Level 4 qualification in ICT—Telecommunication & Wireless Technology (Level 4) 
  • Individuals already employed in the field of ICT but without formal qualifications.
